Mid 20th century copy of Ming, Yongle period, bowl

Mid 20th century copy of Ming, Yongle period, bowl Since so much porcelain with apochrypical marks appears on the market, along with optimistic dates as well as prices, it is interesting to study an obvious recent copy of an early Ming blue and white bowl.

It has been made to "look old" by the brown dressing on the foot rim as well as by its generous proportions but I still would not call this a serious attempt to fool anybody.

Simon Ng, Hong Kong University, who submitted the pictures, tells us it is surprisingly comfortable to drink tea out of, though.

Mark: Yongle Nian Zhi ( Yongle Period Made )
