Salad Bowl Decorated in MACAO

I purchased this beautiful bowl and on the bottom it reads "KING'S FINE CHINA Hand Decorated MACAO and then this Chinese design in red which is part of the bowl. I assume it is their trademark.

The bowl is about the size of a salad bowl, (Large salad bowl where you would serve the salad.

It has three Chinese women and one man sitting at a table on two places on the inside of the bowl and a flower pot in the very center of the bowl, with beautiful flowers. There is just so much to this bowl. The trim is gilt at the top. The bowl is for decoration only. Do you think that you could give me some information on this bowl?

Chinese Rose pattern

Thank you for your picture. The porcelain bowl in itself is most likely made in the city of Jingdezhen in China.

The decoration is a variation of a pattern most often called Rose Medallion, or Rose Mandarin, if there are more people in the medallions, so to speak.

The shape of the bowl is much more elaborated than usual and the decoration is a bit different from what we usually meet with. I find this most interesting that we thanks to you know that this variation comes from Macao.

The date is hard to tell exactly since this decoration occurs on Chinese porcelain from the latter part of the 19th century up until today.

Since the manufacturers paper label is still there I think we can assume that the bowl, if not entirely new, possibly are from the mid 20th century.

Thank you for your interest.

Best regards,
Jan-Erik Nilsson
