Help on Chinese porcelain figures

I was hoping that you may have a way to tell me or help direct me in the right direction about Chinese porcelain figures. I have some Miller's books on this subject but I am not getting anywhere with them. Maybe you have something or some other book you could tell me where to get it.

Anyway I love the detail that goes into some of figures and I have a lot of them. Again any help you could give me I would be grateful.

Thank you for your time.

A few suggestions

Chinese porcelain figures is a complicated subjects which goes a long way back in the Chinese history. The earliest pottery figures are really Neolithic some 2000 years BC.

As for the more recent I would like to suggest you specifically look for Blanc-de-Chine figures from the Dehua kilns of the Fujian province.

More recent again are the very elaborate brown clay figures from the Shiwan potteries at Foshan (Guangzhou/Canton area).

I have some information on both on my site.

The third group are the monochrome or enamel decorated Jingdezhen porcelain figures which should be covered in most books on Chinese export porcelain.

Porcelain figures was and indeed are, also made for the Chinese domestic market but for this I for the moment can't come up with any specific "best book" to suggest.

I hope this helps some anyway.

Thank you for your interest.

Best regards,
Jan-Erik Nilsson
